Mai Tai

A Mai Tai is a tropical cocktail that originated in Hawaii and is made with rum, orange curaçao, lime juice, and orgeat syrup. Here’s how to make one:

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz. dark rum
  • 1 oz. orange curaçao
  • 3/4 oz. freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 oz. orgeat syrup
  • 1/4 oz. simple syrup
  • Ice
  • Pineapple wedge, for garnish
  • Mint sprig, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
  2. Add the dark rum, orange curaçao, lime juice, orgeat syrup, and simple syrup to the shaker.
  3. Shake vigorously for about 15 seconds, until the cocktail is well combined and chilled.
  4. Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass filled with ice.
  5. Garnish with a pineapple wedge and a mint sprig.
  6. Serve and enjoy!

Note: Mai Tais can also be made with light rum or a combination of light and dark rum, depending on your preference. You can also float a small amount of dark rum on top of the cocktail before serving for an added depth of flavor.
